The visit of the Minister of Rajastan assumes significance as BEML has planned to rollout the first set of Metro Cars to Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation in March 2013. It may be recalled that in 2011, BEML has secured Rs.318 Crore Order for manufacture, supply, testing and commissioning 10 train sets of 4-Car each, totaling 40 Cars to Jaipur Metro Project.
In the Rail and Metro segment, orders are in the pipe line for supply of additional 720 coaches and 36 Stainless Steel EMUs to Indian Railways in addition to existing orders for DEMU, ACEMU, MEMU, OHE cars etc. Besides, BEML has also carved a mark in the Rail Transportation by rolling out Nation’s First Stainless Steel EMU (Electrical Multiple Unit) which was put into revenue service at Eastern Railways. SSEMU has immense potential for the future, considering its inherent advantages. To further upgrade the Delhi Metro Rail, BEML has indigenously developed ‘Intermediate Metro Cars’ for Delhi Metro to augment the existing 4-Car train set to 6-Car train set which increases the passenger carrying capacity. After successful trial run, BEML received orders from Delhi Metro for supply of 136 sets of Intermediate Cars valued at Rs. 925 Cores. We have already delivered 54 cars out of which 36 cars have already been put into service. In addition, opportunities look bright for BEML’s Metro business with Delhi and Bangalore Metros coming out with new or capacity-addition projects. BEML also firmed up plans to enter into track maintenance vehicles segment with a global manufacturer.
In Mining & Construction business also, BEML recently received orders of Rs. 230 Crs with another Rs.200 Crores orders in the pipeline for execution during the current financial year. In the export front, we have already exported vehicles and spares to the tune of Rs.175 Crs during the current financial year. To address the growing demand for higher capacity equipment in Mining industry, BEML, with its world-class R&D infrastructure, has indigenously developed 180Ton Model BE1800E Excavator and 150 Ton Model BH150E Dump Truck with electrical drive to meet the emerging trends in the Mining equipment.
The Defence & Aerospace segment of the Company is firming up its plans to manufacture Armoured Recovery Vehicles to Indian Army and also new emerging opportunities for supply of components and aggregates for Combat vehicles. In its Aerospace business, BEML has recently signed up with M/s. Assystem, France, for manufacture of Aerospace Jigs & Fixtures as a part of offset programme.
