In order to complete development with vision 2020, rural areas of the country must be provided with basic amenities like electricity, road connectivity, good education and quality health care,” stated former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Delivering the Graduation Day address at St. Philomena’s College in the city he said ‘to transform the nation into a developed country, five areas have been identified,” like Agriculture and food processing; Infrastructure with reliable electric power; Education and Healthcare; Information and Communication Technology; technologies and industries.
Dr. Kalam gave four tips to the youth to succeed in their lives, which he called as ‘wings to fly’ — Aim great, Acquire knowledge, Hard work and and Perseverance.
Dr. Kalam administered the oath to the 538 passing out graduates. The students held lamps while taking the oath signifying that they will share their knowledge like the flame spreads its light.
After a brief interaction with the students, Dr. Kalam also took part at Mahajana’s College of the platinum jubilee celebration of Mahajana Education Society.
