Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced that the Bangalore edition of TCS IT Wiz 2014 will be held on Thursday, August 7 at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Vyalikaval.
High school students studying in class 8-12 (including Pre University of Junior college students) can participate. There is no entry fee. Each institution is allowed to send 10 teams of two-members each to participate.
TCS IT Wiz 2014 is held across 14 locations in India – Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune.
Entries have to be sent through the respective institutions on or before August 4 to TCS IT Wiz Coordinator, Tata Consultancy Services, SJM Tower #18 Sheshadri Rd, Gandhinagar, Bangalore – 560 009.
Quiz format: The top six teams from the written prelim will qualify for the regionals finals. Only the top scoring team from each school will be called on stage in the event of multiple teams from the same school qualify for the final.
The winner from the Regional finals will contest in the International finals along with teams from Singapore and the UAE, to be held in December.
The Regional champions this year will walk away with an iPad air each while the runners-up will be rewarded iPad mini along with a specially designed trophy and medals.
The six finalists will also receive an array of prizes from TCS ranging from space pack, sippers, earphones, USB pen drive and speakers.
Tweet and earn Mileage: The regional finals will have a Twitter contest for all the participants and the top two winners will receive Bluetooth speakers. The twitter contest will also involve a mileage earning system where every tweet will earn a point, tweet with picture 3 points and retweets will fetch five points. The student with highest tweet point across the 14 cities will win a trip to Mumbai to witness International finals of TCS IT Wiz.
TCStweetwiz: Three questions will appear on the screen and students can tweet their answers to the handle @TCStweetwiz during the correction break and the top three on first come first basis along with all correct answers will receive themselves a boom headphone each.
Subject: The Quiz will mainly focus on applications of Information Technology across various sectors and aspects including technology environment, the business, people, new trends and legends. It will also focus on emerging areas such as cloud computing, telecom, biometrics, robotics, world of Internet, unique web sites, IT buzzwords and acronyms. The Quiz will also cover areas where IT has made an impact – education, entertainment, books, multimedia, music, movies, internet, banking, advertising, sports, gaming, social networking, blogging and cell phones.
