Bangalore, March 6, 2013:

Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd., a part of the US $15.9 billion Mahindra Group, today announced that it has partnered Gopalan Mall to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at all mall locations in the city.

The latest move provides further leg up to the city’s EV infrastructure as Mahindra Reva has already installed 100 EV public charging stations across various locations in Bangalore. All the charging stations are strategically located and customers will have access to at least one every five kms.

Bangalore’s existing public EV charging stations include various State Bank of India branches, numerous local automotive garages, M&M Dealerships, Mom & ME retail outlets and now Gopalan Mall.

The growing customer acceptance for electric vehicles in Indian metro cities coupled with Bangalore’s own DNA of green living culture has made the city the capital of electric vehicles in India.

Bangalore is home to the largest number of electric cars in the country and the most EV friendly market with its significant charging infrastructure. Mahindra Reva’s rapid expansion of EV charging stations across the key locations in Bangalore has further enhanced the city’s EV eco-system and given it an edge over other metros in the country.

Chetan Maini, Founder and Chief of Strategy & Technology, Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, said, “There will be increased acceptance of Electric Cars in the country, particularly in the metros with Bengaluru taking the lead. Mahindra Reva is committed to offer comprehensive EV infrastructure to the city well before the roll out
of our first e2o.”

Commenting on the initiative, R. Chandramouli, Chief of Operations at Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt. Ltd, said, “We are happy to partner with Gopalan Malls and appreciate their belief in our vision
of the future of mobility. Facilitating charging points at shopping malls will help customers charge cars while they are away shopping at the mall. We welcome all shopping malls and corporates to be a part of our journey to offer sustainable mobility solutions and support us in making Bangalore’s EV infrastructure one of the best in the world.”

Commenting on the partnership, C. Prabhakar, Director, Gopalan Mall, said, “We are pleased to offer our strong support to the Mahindra Group’s vision of the future of mobility. We believe that this synergy  will work well for an enhanced EV eco-system in the city, which will add value to the well being and sustainable living of the people of Bangalore.”
