ENARADA, Bangalore, July 13, 2014

An unmatchable and majestic Sunday afternoon  at  the  27th edition of Kingfisher Derby saw a new page  being written in  the  history  of  the  regal  sport  of  horse  racing.

Be Safe galloped through the race and conquered the finish line to be rightfully crowned as the winner of the Silver Horse Trophy.

Trained by Mallesh Narredu and jockeyed by Suraj Narredu took  the crowd’s breath  away with  an  exhilarating performance!

Culebra and Tiger Tops, the runner’s up, gave Be Safe stiff competition as racing enthusiasts held their breath up till the very last seconds of the race. Be Safe’s owner Dr M. A. M. Ramaswamy took home Rs 1,22,51,250,00 as prize money and was immensely proud of his achievement.

The  trophy was received by the trainer Mallesh Narredu on Dr Ramaswamy’s behalf from Mr. Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior Vice President, Marketing, United Breweries Ltd. and Mr. Harimohan Naidu, Chairman, BTC.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Samar Singh Sheikhawat, Senior Vice President, Marketing, United Breweries Ltd. said, “Synonymous as the King of all Derbies, the excitement and thrill of the Kingfisher Derby is unmatched.  This iconic race encompasses glamour, equestrian power and elegance.  It is  spectacular  to  see  Bangaloreans  coming  together  to  celebrate  this  regal  sport.  I would  like  to congratulate  the  winner  and  thank  the  racing  enthusiasts  whose  passion  for  the  sport  has  helped  this event become a charismatic symbol for the city of Bangalore.”
