Bengaluru students gave a fitting tribute to ‘Shaheed’ Bhagat Singh by creating a picture of the national hero by using only coins.

The students of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) had carefully chosen 7,500 silver coloured Rs 2 coins and 5,000 gold coloured Rs 5 denomination coins to create the picture.

If you think creating the picture was a difficult task, in fact, collecting coins was a bigger task.

Speaking to Enarada.com,  Shreyas Raju, the lead student said, “We had decided to make a picture using the coins. However, our biggest challenge was arranging 12,500 coins. Added to this we had three-day holiday; (Bakrid on Friday, Bandh on Saturday and Sunday). Eventually, we had to meet higher ups who were helpful in arranging the coins for us.”

Eight students Shreyas Raju, Yuvarajan, Sushanth Upadhya, Gurudev, Manu, Rajashekar, Shweta, Sonu Sharma were assisted by three others Shaina, Prasanna Patil and Aishwarya k.Murthy  in creating the Bhagat Singh’s coin image on Monday.

UVCE principal KR Venugopal said, “We had conducted a survey as to who was the most popular icon among the youths and Bhagat Singh received the maximum number of polls. In fact, Singh got more polls than Mahatma Gandhi. As he is the youth icon, the students chose to create his image as a tribute on his birthday. Though the students had very little time to practice, they still accomplished the task with perfection.”

The nation is celebrating freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s 108th birth anniversary today.
