Mysore, April 30, 2013:
The Election Commission today announced postponement of May 5 election to Periyapatna Assembly Constituency to May 25 following the death of BJP candidate Mr Sanmage Gowda.
Fifty eight year-old Mr Gowda died at his residence following a massive heart attack last night. He was contesting in the Assembly elections for the first time and was earlier the BJP Taluk President.
BJP party is eligible to field candidate and others who have already filed their nomination and accepted will remain in the fray.
Nomination can be filed till May 8, Scrutiny will be taken up the next day and last date for withdrawal will be May 11. Election will be held on May 25 and counting of votes will be held on May 28.
