ENARADA, Mysore, Aug.11,2013:

The new building of original Suttur Mutt at the Srikshetra in Suttur, Nanjangud taluk, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddharamaiah today.

With large number of devotees of the mutts visiting, an entire Suttur village was in a festival mood.

Music programme with Hindustani vocal by Jayathirtha Mevundi, violin by Vid. M. Nagaraj and Dr. Manjunath, Flute by Praveen Godkindi and clarionet by Narasimhalu Vadavati added a special touch to the opening Ceremony.

According to the sources in the mutt, the Mutt was built by the Cholas in Suttur as a mark of reverence to the then Seer Sri Ghanalinga Shivayogi Swamiji. Mutt has a history of over 1,000 years. As the old Mutt building was dilapidated, it was renovated once. Now the building has been vacated and a new one has been constructed retaining the original design at a cost of Rs.4 crores.

The new building spread across 22,500 square feet is a two-storeyed structure comprising meeting hall, Gadduge, prasada distribution hall, rooms for visitors.

The inaugural function was graced by Siddaganga Seer Sri Shivakumara Swamiji and Seers of other Mutts. District in charge minister V Srinivasa Prasad, ministers H C Mahadevappa, H S Mahadeva Prasad, former CM B.S.Yeddyurappa MLA Ashok Kheny and others participated in the function.
