CM to present fresh Budget

Mysore, May 20, 2013;

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said that the Congress led Governmenht will present a fresh budget for the current fiscal in the State Assembly during the first week of July.

The previous BJP Government had already passed the budget for 2013-14 just before the elections were announced.

Talking to newsmen here he said that the budget would reflect the new programmes and the policies of the government. “Our Government would not drop any ongoing program” Chief Minister said.

He declined to comment on the budget size and said that the budget had to presented after the careful look at the resources of the state, GDP, agriculture production, industry sector, service sector development and fiscal deficit and other yardsticks.

 

Cauvery issue
Replying to question on Cauvery water dispute of the state, he said that the state government has already challenged and filed a review petition before the tribunal and supreme court. He expressed confidence that justice will be in favour of Karnataka.

Cheap liquor
On the idea of cheap quality liquor supply in the state, he said it was a passing reference with the officials when he met recently, it does mean that the state government decided on this direction. ”Let there be a debate among the people. Don’t give much importance this issue”, he added

Land Grab in Mysore
Referring to land grab in and around the Chamundi hills in the city, he said that he was aware of the issue and same would be discussed with the Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad and necessary procedure will be followed.

Periyapatna Election
He said that the congress candidate will be victorious in the Periyapatna elections scheduled on May 28. The election was deferred due to the death of the official BJP candidate Sannemoge gowda. Chief Minister later left for canvassing at Periyapatna for the congress candidate K Venkatesh.

Earlier Chief Minister along with Ministers T B Jayachandra, H S Mahadeva Prasad, MPs A H Viswnath and Druvanayarana and MLAs , visited the Suttur Mutt and took blessings from the Sri Deshikendra Swamiji of Suttur Mutt.
