Congress tussle costs life

The tussle for tickets and the in fight within the Congress party to contest the forthcoming assembly elections led to the tragic death of a party worker on Thursday.

Velu, 48-year-old Congress worker, from Mahadevapura constituency, died of suspected cardiac arrest outside the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee office. He collapsed when police used canes to control thousands of workers who had come from different Assembly segments.

KPCC office premises in queen road had become a venue for protests in the recent days, with supporters of ticket aspirants holding demonstrations seeking to push their case.

Party workers from Dasarahalli, Jayanagar, Turuvekere, Magadi and Hiriyur too gathered to protest against the alleged raw deal for the local aspirants in issuing tickets by the Congress leadership. /ENN
