ENARADA , Mysore, July 27, 2014
In order to revive the essence of ‘desi’ sports, a state-level traditional games festival was organised here today.
In the wake of growing urbanisation and globalisation, traditional games have been completely neglected, said Deputy Director of Karnataka Police Academy Dr. Dharani Devi Malagatti K.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, she said awareness should be created on ‘desi’ games like ‘pagade’, ‘chowka bhara’, ‘aligulimane’, ‘kolata’ , ‘kunte bille’, ‘jutata’ and ‘kannaa muchachale’ among the younger generations.
“It’s the right time to highlight these games, particularly for the young generations”, she observed.
More than 100 participants cutting across different age groups took part in the festival, organised by the “Mysore Mahila Vedike” along with “Manavantara Samooha Balaga”.
