It has been a practice to invite VVIPs or litterateurs to inaugurate the Mysuru Dasara. However, this time, it will be a farmer who is set to inaugurate the Dasara festivities at Chamundi hills.

The Government will soon select a progressive farmer who will have the privilege of inaugurating the ‘Nada Habba’ to be held from October 14 to 21. The Mysuru palace will be lit between 7 pm and 9 pm.

On day one, police band is set to enthral the audience.

As the festivities will be scaled down due to the drought this year, the elephant procession as part of the Jumbo Savari will be shortened.

Due to severe power crisis, only five kilometres of Jumbo Savari path will be lit instead of the regular 12 km.

Similarly, the Government also said that special lighting at Government offices will be restricted just to two days instead of the regular five days.
