In a move to convert colleges to be more industry friendly and job oriented one, the state Government has mooted an idea of adoption of colleges. Industrial sector will have an option to adopt a college.
The move is considered to be a boon to the higher education system as it would provide more job opportunities for the students in the state.
Speaking to media here, the higher education minister R.V. Deshpande said that the idea was at preliminary stage and necessary procedure would be worked out soon. The system is already there in the ITI and now the Government is thinking to introduce the same in higher education he added.
In the process, the Government is also thinking of adopting syllabus required to fulfill the needs of the industrial sector, thus helping to both industry and students. .
He said the government would take initiative to filling of lecturers and other posts in the various institutions in the state and slowly reduce the appointing guest and temporary teachers which would affecting in giving quality education, he added.
Referring to government’s last minute approval of various universities in the state, he said that such approval would be examined by the government.
On the selecting persons for the honorary doctorate by the universities, he said there was must be a discipline while selecting persons for the same, he added.
New tourism policy soon
Karnataka tourism Minister R V Deshpande today said that a new tourism policy would be formed soon to boost tourism sector in the state.
Speaking to media, he said that the Karnataka is ranked high in top tourist destinations in the country. However they lack in basic infrastructure. The government is committed to give much needed attention in tourism sector which will provide employment opportunities and revenue generation.
In this regard, the state Government is planning to draft new tourism policy in which industry will have a active role, Deshpande explained. ENN
