Patil gets IT-BT, Jain to give up fisheries

Bangalore, May 26, 2013:

S.R. Patil, who was sworn-in as cabinet minister of the Siddaramaiah government on Saturday, will be the minister for information technology (IT), biotechnology (BT) and science and technology. In addition, Patil will also look after planning and statistics departments.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah , today allocated the portfolios to Patil, who will also serve as the leader of the house in legislative council as he is the lone representative from council  in the cabinet

Jain to give up:

Meanwhile Abhayachandra Jain – minister for Youth Services and Fisheries said on Sunday that he had decided to give up fisheries portfolio, as it was against the principles of non-violence associated with his community.

Speaking to media at Moodbidri he explained that community leaders have raised objections for accepting the fisheries department. Keeping the sentiments of the people of his community the minister said to have decided to relinquish the portfolio. ENN
