Hi-tech crematorium inaugurated and foundation stone laid for auto nagar in Mysore

In a  last minute efforts to take up development works with  expectation of assembly polls announcements District In charge  and Medical Education Minister  S A Ramadas today opened the Hi-tech crematorium “Mukthi Dhama”  in the city and laid the foundation stone for first ever auto nagar on the out skrits of the city

Despite the protest from the Grama panchyat members the minister inaugurated the hi-tech crematorium, first of its kind in the State.

It has two electric and one gas furnaces, besides four open platforms for cremating bodies in traditional method using wood pyre, two roofed platforms for the same and a huge platform to accommodate as many as 300 persons during the rituals. A visitor to this crematorium is greeted by a huge welcome arch with idols of Lord Shiva, Buddha and Ganesha, placed at vantage points to provide devotional environment in the crematorium.

The hi-tech crematorium is the brainchild of former MUDA Commissioner Ashokananda, which was pursued by his successors P.C.Jayanna and Dr. C.G. Betsurmath till its successful completion.

Meanwhile District In-charge Minister also laid foundation stone for the proposed Autonagar on Mysore-Nanjangud Highway

Speaking on the occasion, Ramdas said that the proposed Auto Nagar will be the first ever in the State which would help the mechanics to organise themselves as an organisation. “The idea of coming out with Auto Nagar was placed before the Central Government by R. Ananth Kumar, at the time when he served as Urban Development Minister during the reign of Atal Bihar Vajapayee as Prime Minister. But, the project was shelved as the State Governments did not show interest”, he added.

He  announced that in total four Auto Nagars would be constructed on different parts of the city which will contribute majorly to make Mysore City free from air pollution and parking hazards. “Auto Nagars will enable the mechanics to continue with their works without interruption,”  he said .

He also mentioned that arrangements for transport of vehicles needing repairs to Auto Nagar would be made. Later, Minister Ramdas distributed ID cards to the members of Mysore City Motor Vehicles Mechanics Association.

Autonagar is being constructed on a 20 acre plot of land at Nachanahalli and Kuppaluru 3rd, Mandakalli Survey number 64 and 65. Auto Nagar will have 3 floor and is being constructed by MUDA at a cost of Rs 220 cr. / ENN
