ENARADA, Mysore, October 1,2013:

The District administration with the help of city police has decided to use unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) during the world famous Jumboo savari (procession), the grand finale of Dasara festivities on October 14.

Speaking to journalists on the security arrangements for the dasara festivities in the city Dr Salem, commissioner of police said for the first time UAV will be deployed in the state to cover the procession route. All the images will be recorded for entire period of the procession starting from Mysore palace to Bannimantap for a better security measures.

He said a total of 6277 officers and men deployed for the year dasara including the armed reserve police from across the state. Apart from this 400 NCC cadets and 50 security guards are also deployed for bundobustt.

Special squads like bomb detection, sniffer dog squad would kept ready for the festivities security.

He said said that the police  have sought the help of their counterparts in the neighbouring districts and neighbouring states such as kerala, Tamilnadu, and Andhra pradesh in identifying  habitual chain offenders like chain snatchers, Epickpocketers, petty thieves and others.

He said about 200 surveillance cameras have been installed at important locations where dasara programmes are conducted across the city including chamundi hills, throughout the festivities period.

Stating that the invitations to vvips and vips and media persons would be barcoded. It would be chcked before giving permission to the entry for the mysore palace on the day of processsion on October 14,he added.

He said that the police team would keep round the clock vigil at the check posts, monitor the entry of all vehicles and note down their registration numbers. They would randomly check vehicles if they find suspicious persons travelling in them.

In addition to the entry points, security at popular tourist spots in and around the city has also been tightened and policemen in mufti have been deployed there to keep track of the movement of suspicious people.

He also said that special commando team of nearly 60 internal security division will be deployed during the procession and torch light parade places.

About 30 police help desk will be installed at important places in another two days.

He also requested the railway station and bus stand authorities to install the CCTV facilities during the festival time to check the movement of visitors and passengers  round the clock .
