IISC to start Nano Technology Department

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) is mulling to start Nano technology Department due to its growing demand in present day stated Dr. P. S. Anil Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Physics, IIsc, Bangalore.

Speaking at the UGC assisted one-day State level seminar on nano technology organized by department of Physics, JSS College for Women (Autonomous) on yesterday, he said; “Nano technology has to bridge the gap between Chemistry and Biology.”

Delivering lecture, he said, Spintronics helps to start computers immediately by avoiding long boot up process. The computers manufactured after 2005 have facilitated with tunnel magnets to reduce the size of memory chips in computers.

He suggested students to use Periodic table, as it sourcing number of information and asked to think in more theological way.

Students of various colleges in and around the city were present in the seminar. M. Kiran Kumar, Assistant Professor, Dept of Physics concluded the Inaugural program.

Dr. G. L. Shekar, Principal, National Institute of Engineering, Prof. T. D. subbanna, Director, College of Physics, IISc, Bangalore and Dr. A. R. Phani, Director, Nano RAM technologies, Bangalore were present.
