In a major development in the political scene of the Dakshina Kannada, JD(S) state Vice President Nagaraj Shetty and secretary M G Hegde have tendered their resignations from the party, thus giving a big blow for the party’s efforts to gain foothold in the coastal region.  With their resignation the internal squabbling in the JD(S) which was simmering for quite some time, has now come out in the open.

The resignation of Nagaraja Shetty and M G Hegde comes in the wake of the suspension of party’s minority cell chief D M Aslam and District general secretary Shashiraj Shetty for alleged anti party activities by JD(S) supremo H D Kumaraswamy recently.  Both Nagaraj Shetty and M G Hegde had condemned their suspension and had sought to revoke their suspension.

It may be recalled that there has been growing rebellion within the JD(S) Against Nagaraj Shetty into the party fold.   Local leaders were not happy with the defection of Shetty from BJP to JD(S) and rebellion with brewing within the party for quite some time.   There were allegations that Nagaraj Shetty was bent upon including his own confidants in the party and converting into a party of Bunts and was deliberately neglecting other local leaders.

The efforts of the supporters of Nagaraj Shetty to sideline District JD(S) chief M B Sadashiva and former minister and Moodbidre strongman Amarnath Shetty also contributed for the rebellion against Shetty and his band of supporters.  The original JD(S) leaders who were piqued by the entry of Nagaraj Shetty complained to the high command the highhandedness of Nagaraj Shetty and his goons and  sources reveal that even the high command too was not happy with the internal feud. enarada

It is also believed that more than 20 JD(S) members are expected to resign from the party and if Nagaraj Shetty is to be believed many more are expected to follow him in the coming days.
