Mysore, May 2, 2013:

In view of the Assembly poll  on May 5, the Election Commission is keeping a hawk’s eye vigil on the voting process.

In order to prevent election malpractices, the entire voting process will be telecast live through web-casting, said Deputy Commissioner  C. Shikha, who is also the District Electoral Officer. “Even the counting process will be telecast live”, she said.

The Election Commission has directed the District Administration to telecast live the voting process in sensitive, hyper-sensitive and vulnerable areas comprising weaker sections of the society and the poor.

She said that in the three Assembly constituencies in city, 22 such polling booths have been identified for live telecast, for which all preparations have been made by the district administration.

Similarly, web-casting will be done from a total of 56 polling booths of the 11 constituencies of Mysore district.

She also appealed to the voters to come out and vote to strengthen the process of democracy and building the nation.

The Officer has appealed to the voters to exercise their franchise with pride and contribute towards making of a stronger and more participative democracy.

To assist the voters, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has operationalised a toll free number 1950 to facilitate voters to know the details about their names in the electoral rolls, addition/deletion/modification, EPIC, address of the polling station etc. The voters are requested to make use of the facility for any assistance required in the election.
