ENARADA, Mysore, July 3,2013:

Senior congress leader and   Loksabha member  A H Vishwanath today batted in favour of KPCC President DR G Parameshwar for the deputy chief minister post .

“When S.M. Krishna could be made Deputy Chief Minister when Veerappa Moily was the Chief Minister, what is wrong if KPCC President Dr. G. Parameshwar is made a Dy.CM to Siddharamaiah?” he  questioned.

He was speaking to media persons at the DC’s office where he presented a cheque for Rs. 50 lakh from his MPLAD fund, for relief works at flood-hit Uttarakhand.

Asked to comment on the formation of co-ordination committee for functioning of the Congress Government in State, Mr. Vishwanath said that the committee was formed on the lines of the one in the Central Government and ruled out rumours that the committee was being formed to restrict the freedom of Siddharamaiah in governing the State.

Taking serious objections to Gujarat CM Narendra Modi’s claim that he had helped in the rescue of 15,000 people from his State from the flood-ravaged Uttarakhand while thousands of people from other States were battling for survival, Vishwanath urged all political parties not to politicise the tragedy which took toll of many lives, besides leaving a trail of devastation.

Donation to relief and rehabilitation of Uttarakhand flood victims:
Lok Sabha member A.H. Vishwanath today presented a cheque for Rs. 50 lakh from his quota of MP Local Area Development Fund for the relief and rehabilitation of Uttarakhand flood victims.

The cheque was handed over to the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Ramegowda at the latter’s office in city.

The contribution comes in response to the pleas made by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on June 26 to donate a month’s salary and a suitable amount from their Local Area Development fund for relief works in flood-hit Uttarakhand.

Meanwhile, staff members of National Institute of Technology (NIE-IT) in Koorgalli also donated Rs. 75,000 to the Uttarakhand flood relief fund. Principal Usha Surendra presented the cheque to the   deputy commissioner to be sent to the concerned authorities.
