ENARADA,Bangalore, August 24, 2013:

Taking responsibility for losing both the Lok Sabha seats to Congress, the JD(S) state unit president and former chief minister announced that he will tender resignation to both the posts he held.

He said he will resign from party state president and leader of the opposition posts.

Kumaraswamy said JD(S) will soon select a new leader of the opposition in the legislative party meeting.

It can be recalled that Mandya and Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha seats went to byepolls due to resignation of  Chaluvarayaswamy of JD(S) and H.D.Kumaraswamy of JD(S) resigning from the respective parliament seats after getting elected to Legislative Assembly.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Congress won both seats by a convincing victory margin and snatched the seats from JD(S).

Alliance between JD(S) and BJP failed miserably. The Congress candidates defeated their rivals in style.

This is the second consecutive defeat to Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of HD Kumaraswamy  who lost the fight in the Bangalore Rural loksabha elaction to Congress Candidate. She had earlier lost Channapatna Assembly seat to C.P.Yogeshwar of Samajavadi Party in the last assembly elections.

While kannade film star Ramya won the Mandya Loksabha seat, D.K.Suresh , Brother of prominent Congress leader D.K.Shivakumar won from the prestigious Bangalore Rural Loksabha Segment.
