ENARADA, Bangalore, August 21, 2013:

Nav Bharat Democratic Party (Nav Bharat) was launched in Karnataka today with a vision to restore the State’s pride as a well-governed and socio-economically developed state.

Nav Bharat is a new generation political party that has entered the political fray on the principles of transparent democracy and accountable polity with a mission to re-energize India through sustained economic development, a socially progressive agenda and an accountable government.

The Party believes that through responsible and visionary leadership, Karnataka has the potential to become the most developed state in India. If entrusted with the responsibility to represent the people of the state, Nav Bharat sees an opportunity to influence policies and decisions that will help use the state’s resources positively to drive growth.

On Nav Bharat’s vision and agenda for Karnataka, RK Misra, President – Nav Bharat, said, “Karnataka used to be among the best governed states of our country. Unfortunately, over the last 20 years, successive state governments have failed to deliver on economic development and efficient governance. They have neglected the economic growth of the state. The North Karnataka region is among the poorest in the country. Farmers are suffering due to inimical agriculture growth and lack of a social safety net. Bangalore, the sole economic growth engine of the State, has lost its preeminence due to political apathy and administrative neglect. It suffers from crumbling infrastructure and poor planning.”

He added, “The State has the resources and human talent to become the most developed state of our country but it lacks the political will and visionary leadership. Successive governments have indulged only in vote bank and freebie politics instead of focusing on agriculture productivity, infrastructure and employment generation for masses.”

He further added, “People of Karnataka are frustrated and looking for change. They have given decisive electoral mandates, twice in a row. Unfortunately they have been let down. They are looking for a credible political alternative. Nav Bharat will fulfill this political need by engaging in politics of development and not indulging in politics of caste and corruption.”

He elaborated, “We will work with both the central and state governments to rejuvenate brand Bangalore. Bangalore needs massive investment to create world class Infrastructure and better city governance. We will work to attract industrial and infrastructure investment in Tier-2 cities to generate employment in the underdeveloped regions of Karnataka.  Improved agricultural productivity, market linkages and social safety net for farmers are the priority areas for Nav Bharat in Karnataka.”

He concluded by saying, “Nav Bharat will strive to bring back Karnataka’s pride as a well governed and socio-economically developed state.”

Nav Bharat got its recognition from the Election Commission of India in June this year. The party is in the process of identifying capable and committed leaders of society to be fielded as its nominated representatives in the 2014 General Elections.

Nav Bharat’s political strategy and development agenda is generating significant interest and attracting members from various walks of life including veteran politicians who find their parties opportunistic and high command centric, successful entrepreneurs who are  dismayed at seeing  the country miss opportunities for growth, working professionals who realize that their disengagement has led to politics becoming a business for the corrupt and criminals, and the youth who feels politically orphaned owing to an uncertain future defined by vote bank and poverty perpetuating politics.
