Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was literally bowled when he visited KISS and KIIT campus in Bhubaneswar. He was so impressed by the facility as he said that there was no institute in the country that could match KISS.

“I had heard a lot about KISS, but after visiting the institute, I am astonished to see such a large number of students here. I have never seen such an institution anywhere in India. It is not a small issue to provide food, clothes, accommodation, healthcare facility and education free of cost to 25,000 students”, the CM of Uttar Pradesh stated.

Lauding Mr Samanta’s works, Mr Yadav said that Samanta had proved that his individual efforts couldn’t be matched even by the Governments. “It is not a joke to teach 25,000 kids who come from remote regions. Even today, we find many people who have not visited a city in their life time. In such a scenario, Mr Samanta has chosen such children and shaping their future. I feel that any amount of congratulations wouldn’t be enough to appreciate his works. I also take the opportunity to invite him to Uttar Pradesh to start his activities and we whole heartedly support him for his endeavours.”

All these have been possible due to blessings of God and sincerity and relentless effort of its founder Dr. Achyuta Samanta, he added during his visit to the campus on October 30, 2015 as he went around visiting various facilities of KISS.

Addressing 25,000 indigenous students, he said KISS has provided best platform for all round development of tribal boys and girls, he said in his address to the students. They should put in hard work with all sincerely and utilise this opportunity to the fullest, he advised.

Later, Yadav addressed the third KIIT International Model United Nations (KIIT-MUN) as the Chief Guest in KIIT University. Being held in partnership with the UNFPA and US Consulate General, Hyderabad, it is one of the largest MUNs in the world. More than 1,800 delegates from leading institutions of the country like IITs, NITs, National Law Schools, JNU, etc. as well as from 20 nations are participating. The conference has partnered with 12 of the world’s most prestigious MUNs, including Moscow International MUN, Paris International MUN, Rome MUN, Balkan MUN, Oslo MUN, Hamburg MUN, Asia Pacific MUN, MUN of The Hague. Addressing student-delegates from various universities of India and abroad, Shri Yadav advised them to prepare themselves for the future challenges. The world will face three major challenges; climate change, food for all and affordable healthcare for all – and it is for the youths and students to think how to overcome them, he said.

It may be mentioned that Akhilesh Yadav was impressed after learning about KISS Model of empowerment through education. Last year, he had invited Dr. Samanta to Lucknow to know more about KIIT and KISS. He felt that KISS model could be replicated not only in UP, but also in the entire country, so that the poorest of the poor students of the country could get quality education and they could include in the mainstream society. At that time he had expressed desire to visit KIIT & KISS. Shri Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma, Secretary to the CM of UP; Shri Pandhary Yadav, Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Govt. of UP; Shri Gajendra Singh, Shri Jagat Singh and Shri Jainendra Singh accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit.

Akhilesh Yadav and other visiting dignitaries were extended a warm welcome upon their arrival in KISS campus. Dr. Samanta delivered the welcome address, while Shri Rajendra Choudhary, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Govt. of UP, Smt. Saswati Bal, President, KIIT & KISS, Shri R. N. Dash, President and Dr. P. K. Routaray, CEO, KISS also spoke on the occasion.

Among others, His Excellency Mr. Shaida Mohammad Abdali, Ambassador of Afghanistan to India; Dr. Hameed Nuru, Representative and Country Director, World Food Programme (WFP) India; Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS; Prof. P. P. Mathur, VC, KIIT University and Dr. Sasmita Samanta, Registrar also spoke on the occasion.
