Nothing wrong in seeking support of Samajawadi Party –Chief Minister

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah today defended Congress party seeking support from Samajawadi Party MLA Yogeshwara in the Lok Sabha by-election slated to be held on August 21.

Speaking to journalists here, he said there was nothing wrong in seeking support from the Samajawadi Party which also was a secular party.

There was no discussion at the party level on the cabinet berth to the Yogeshwara if returned to party fold, he said, referring to D K Shivakumar meeting former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. He said the meeting was personal and it was nothing to do with the party.

On controversial remarks against the Mandya Lok Sabha by-election candidate Ms Ramya, he said this type of remarks were not good and being political leaders, they should know their limitations.

He said he would take up by-election campaign for eight days at Mandya and Bangalore rural from tomorrow.

He said the first four days of campaign would in Mandya and next four days in Bangalore rural constituencies. He expressed confidence that the Congress would win both the seats.

Earlier, Mr Siddharamaiah had a Janata Darshan programme at his residence in Sharadadevinagar in the city and heard the people’s grievances
