There is something common between having darshan of lord Bajaji at Tirumala and getting Covid-19 curfew pass at Bengaluru, wait in queue for hours together.

With no social distance rule being strictly followed, the curfew pass issuing centers are at the risk of turning into a breeding ground for viruses and more vulnerable to coronavirus spread.

People are turning up in large numbers to obtain curfew passes and this trend prompted the police department to establish a separate center at each of the DCP offices in Bengaluru.

The demand for passes is increasing as the visuals of police lathi-charge are widely circulating on social media.

The lucky pass holders at one such center at DCP North division at Yeshwanthpur circle said they were standing for more than 5 hours in the queue which was moving in a snail’s pace. They further said, “However, police personnel working at the center are very helpful and courteous.”

A senior police officer was seen telling people in the queue to not get panic as there are 30000 passes in stock to dispatch.

Police had a tough time dealing with representatives of companies belonging to the essential services category demanding bulk passes for their employees and vehicles.

The public who wants to avail of a curfew pass has to submit a copy of their Aadhar card along with a request letter.  For vehicle pass, submitting a copy of vehicle documents is necessary.
