Mysore, April  16, 2013 :

The much-awaited Chinnara Mela organised by Rangayana was inaugurated in a unique way by pouring water to the traditional ‘Basava’ at Vanaranga in Rangayana premises by National award winning Film Director P. Sheshadri last evening.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheshadri said that the parents have been bringing more pressure on the children to score highest marks in order to encourage studying professional courses .Following this, children have been deprived of an opportunity to take part in any other activity.

He said that instead of limiting children to only studying, it was important to see that they develop the ability to question which would help them to grow as good citizens of the country.

Parents should give relevant answers to any question posed to them by children which would act as an inspiration to the children in planning their future.

“If the parents do not know the answers to the questions posed by the children, they should take time to get suitable answers”, he added.

Prior to the inauguration, children dressed in traditional costumes arrived at the venue with a slogan praying for the rain gods to pour. Children also carried winnows (Mora) filled with food grains and walked towards the stage.

Chinnara Mela will be held for 25 days and will focus on introducing children to rural environment.

Vivekananda Institute for Leadership Development Founder Dr. R. Balasubramaniam presided. Tennis player Poojashree Venkatesh, Rangayana Director K.R. Ramakrishna and Deputy Director Nirmala Mathapathi were present.
