Seminar on Music and performing arts inaugurated

Mahesh Joshi, Director of Doordarshan, Bangalore today   emphasised on the need for teaching Indian classical music to the younger generation who are aping western culture and prefer western music to their own traditional art forms.

Speaking after inaugurating the two-day international seminar on music and performing arts, held at the Karnataka State Gangubai Hangal (KSGH) Music and Performing Arts University here he said. “Human beings learnt to create music by getting inspired by the elements – air, water, thunder, etc. – to express their emotions like joy, pleasure, sadness and love,”
