A temple in Dakshina Kannada district organises the annual fair ‘Kori Jatre’ to worship the farmland. The unique feature of this jatre is people from all walks of life participates in it.
To give wider publicity for the mega event, a group of local artists travel all the villages in a traditional attire and announce details like date, rituals and procedure to participate in the event.
“Worshipping farmland is an integral part of mankind. Our local artists covers all the villages by making announcement about the annual fair in Tulu language. Their way of presentation with singing and dancing brings joy among villagers. We have not printed any pamphlets or Banners and these artists will communicate it,” said Ramanand Bhat, chief priest at Kokkada temple.
This year the Kori Jatre will be held on December 16 at Kokkada Vaidyanatheshwara temple in Belthangadi taluk.
