Even as the dates for the assembly elections in the state are announced a public awareness drive has been launched in the city on March 20, 2013m to create awareness among the public about the forthcoming assembly elections in the state. Deputy Commissioner N Prakash who launched the awareness drive gave information relating to voter’s list, information regarding Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation Plan (SVEEP). DC N Prakash stated that SVEEP will help ensure there will be 100% voting in the elections. He said a special committee headed by Zilla Panchayat CEO has been formed for this purpose.
He also revealed that a website has been created for the purpose and this website would provide all information relating to electoral issues. Voters with their EPICs can use the website to know their exact ward number, division number, information on election officers and centres or any other information required for the purpose. ‘
The DC said that the SVEEP awareness programme will be carried out in public places where people gather in huge numbers regularly namely, malls, cinema theatres, bus stands, railway stations and other such places. / ENN
