Women’s wing of BJP (Mahila Morcha) in Karnataka has criticised police for misbehaving  with its members during ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation held in Chitradurga district on December 2.

Shashikala Jolle, MLA and State President of Mahila Morcha  and Rathnamma, District General Secretary of Mahila Morcha , addressing a joint press meet in Vidhana Soudha on December 3, alleged Congress Government in Karnataka  was trying to curb activities of Mahila Morcha unconstitutionally.

“To protest against recurring  of Rape incidents and deteriorating law& order situation,  members of the Mahila Morcha across the state participated in peaceful ‘Jail Bharo’ protest . Police in Chitradurga  stopped the protest forcefully and snatched  from us the opportunity to protest.  What is not acceptable is they (Police) misbehaved with women members,” said Shashikala.

Rathnamma, describing high handiness of police said,”Police called my mobile and asked me to visit police station at 9:30pm. Is the time appropriate for a woman to visit police station?  They even misbehaved with us during the protest by forcefully dragging us.”

They claimed that men police pulled the women members, as against the rule and some of the women fell down on the street, got admitted to Government hospital for the treatment.
