It appears that the participation of lead elephant Balarama, who carried the 750-kg golden howdah for 18 years in the previous Jumboo Savaris, is nearing an end as authorities are considering the idea of withdrawing him from the elephant brigade.

According to forest officer DRr.Nagaraj, enroute to Bannimantap grounds, Balarama tends to turn back towards the Palace on approaching the RMC Circle and the same is said to have forced the authorities to think twice before finalising on his participation in this year’s Jumboo Savari.

However, DCF Devaraj clarified that a final call be taken on Ayudha Puja Day (Oct. 13).
