ENARADA, Mysore, October 8, 2013:

The  huge crowds  of the city has witnessed two enthralled  performances of two different  famous stars. Dance by veteran  Bollywood actress Hema Malini infront of illuminated Amba vilasa palace and another one at yuva dasara  programme smashing performance by noted Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan.

It was one of the performances at Paace premises here last night  were enthralled to a delectable mythological dance-drama by Bollywood actress Hema Malini and troupe as part of the ongoing cultural programmes

One time dream girl Hema Malini commenced the programme with a formal dance appearing as Goddess Mahalakshmi. She, with her troupe, later presented an episode of the marriage of Vishnu and Lakshmi followed by the Ksheerasagara Manthana which captivated the audience invoking devotion among them.

On the other hand at Maharaja College Grounds, Sunidhi, who is known for her rocking performances, started off with ‘Dhoom Machale’ from the movie Dhoom, to which the audience irrespective  age  danced with the tune  .

Sunidhi continued her performance with Halkat Jawani… from the movie Heroine which starred Kareena Kapoor, then went on with another number Dance Pe Chance Maar Le… from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi staring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma.

The crowd also cheered when  Rakesh, who featured in Indian Idol. Rakesh entertained the audience with number of top songs of hindi movies

Sunidhi pleasantly surprised the crowd with the Kannada song ‘Jogayya…’ from the movie ‘Jogi’ which featured Shivarajkumar, after which she continued with title song from the Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and signed off with the sizzling number Bidi Jalaile… from Omkara

The event also included performances from teams selected from Yuva Sambhrama, a Bihu dance from Assamese artistes and an orchestra by a team from Kollegal, Chamarajanagar.

Cycle Race
About 100 boys and 20 girls from across the state took part in the bicycle race held as part of the Dasara festivities today. MLA Vasu flagged off the race.

Sridhar Sharavanuru from Hubli emerged first in the boy’s section, while Seema Adal of Bijapur secured first place among girls. North Karnataka cyclists dominated in the event by sweeping all top prizes in both Men and Women category.

The final results:  Boys division: 1. Sridhar Shravanuru (Hubli), 2. Basavaraj Kattimani (Bagalkot), 3. Ashish (Bijapur).

Girls Division: 1. Seema Adal, 2. Renuka Pandit, 3. Megha Hugar (all Bijapur).

300 Dasara Special Buses
The Karnataka state road transport corporation (KSRTC) today launched 300 special buses for Dasara to various districts in State here today.

This buses will ply till October 14 the final day of the dasara festivities 4. Volvo buses to Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar were also flagged off on the occasion.

KSRTC Chief Traffic Manager, Bangalore, Ashok Kumar, Chief Mechanical Engineer Mallikarjun were flagged the bus services from the urban bus stand

Divisional Controller Srinivas who launched the buses said that additional buses have been introduced to cater the needs of travelers visiting Dasara festivities.  “Last year, 150 extra buses were introduced for Dasara to nearby districts but now it is increased to 300 to far off districts too. The package tours of Giridarshini, Jaladarshini, Devadarhshini and Nagaradarshini have been on from Oct. 5 to cover important tourist destinations” Srinivas said.

He said that Volvo buses to Gundlupet and Chamarajanagar were being run on an experimental basis with a nominal hike of Rs. 10 in the fare with respect to the regular buses.

The Volvo service has been introduced to Madikeri, Cannanore, Thrissur, Dharmasthala and Mangalore besides more buses have been added on routes to all the taluks in the district.

Raitha Dasara
Over 1000 farmers from various taluks of the district sporting green caps and shirts, participated in a colourful procession in the city to mark the beginning of Raitha Dasara as part of the ongoing Dasara 2013 festivities.

Law and Animal Husbandry Minister T.B. Jayachandra flagged off the procession in front of Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple at the North Gate of the Palace after offering puja to Nandi Dhwaja.   District in-charge minister V. Srinviasa Prasad was also present.

Many bullock carts were seen in the procession along with six tableaux focussing on agriculture, sericulture, horticulture, organic farming, dairy farming and related fields. Also in attendance were Nandi Kamba, an array of folk troupes performing Dollu Kunita, Veeragase, Karadi Kunitha, Gombe Kunitha and other traditional dances.

The interesting and main attraction of the procession was a decorated sheep carrying Sri Chamundeshwari idol.

The three day event features lectures, discussions and a quiz for farmers.

A sports meet is lined up for the farmers tomorrow in a traditional events category.  A slush race is also arranged at Varuna hobli. There are several events for women farmers too like running with potful of water.

Agriculture Minister Krishna Byregowda inaugurated the stage programme of Raitha Dasara at J.K. Ground, by lighting the tradition lamp.

An exhibition also organized on the occasion related to the farmer’s needs.
