Udupi, June 13, 2013:

With a Supreme Court Judgment, Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt challenged the government, which claim to be secular, to interfere with the administration of the churches if it proposes to have its say in the administration of Mutts.

Talking over Sri Krishna Mutt alone, leaving aside the other Mutts and temples untouched, defies the norms of social justice. The Supreme Court had come to the conclusion that Sri Krishna Mutt is a Mutt for Spiritual Guru and to the General Public, it happen to be a temple. Its is held as a temple cum Mutt complex.

A district taluk level officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000/- from the Paryaya Seer during the SM Krishna regime. This led to the notification of the Krishna Mutt for the denial.

He said the move to take over only the Krishna Mutt belonging to the minority Madhwa tradition without touching the Shringeri Adicaunchanagiri and Dharmasthala temples is not acceptable.

The Swamiji elaborated that the practice of serving the Brahmins separately had started during Dwapara Yugu, when the food habits of Brahmins underwent a change. Caste was never a reason for this development and that it would be wrong to blame Brahmins.

Not a single devotee was turned away with empty stomach from Sri Krishna Mutt he said.
