Dr, Kaillere Mohandas Bhandary died on Wednesday June 12 was due to accidental fall into a well in the premise of his house at Padil- Alake. Initially it was suspected to be a case of suicide.Kankanady Police has registered a case of accidental death. He was 64 years old.
He was missing in the morning and his family began to search for him. His body was found in the well. It was a mystery and suicide was suspected. Fire personnel helped retrieve the body from the well, and shifted to A.J. Hospital.
Dr, Bhandary studied his MBBS at Mysore Medical College. He started his career establishing Bhandary Clinic and Nursing Home at Gundlupet in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka state in the year 1974 to 1978. Later, he shifted to Mangalore to set up Bhandary Clinic & Clinical Lab at the Market Shopping Complex at Hampankatta Market Road.
A career spanning four decade Dr, Bhandary was the Founder President of Family Doctor Association (R) Mangalore. He was the President of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Mangalore branch. He hosted IMA Medicon State Level Conference in the city. His Bhandary Education Trust ® Mangalore operated ambulances on No-profit No-loss basis. He proved himself to be a good community leader. He associated with various causes spanning the fields of sports, education, social, religious, political, literacy, cultural, and development. He was the chairman of Indian Red Cross during 2010-2013.
He is survived by his wife Lalitha and three sons, Dr, Nithish Bhandary associate professor of Medicine, AJMIDS and Secretary of IMA.(Indian Medical Association) Mangalore branch. Dr, Nishan Bhandary MRCP Consultant Psychiatrist UK. And Nischith Bhandary, BE, Team Leader at Accenture Bangalore.
