BJP faces rebellion in Byndoor

Udupi, April 5, 2013:

It is not just the Congress party which is facing rebellion over selection of candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections.   BJP is already up for trouble in Kundapur where sitting BJP MLA Halady Srinivasa Shetty is giving a befitting reply to BJP by contesting as an independent candidate.  Now the nearby constituency Byndoor is also facing a revolt of sort as the BJP   have finalized the name of Sudhakar Shetty, an import from Congress, completely sidelining  sitting BJP MLA  K Laxminarayana.

Some loyal BJP supporters seem to have strongly objected for having chosen a candidate without consulting the local party supporters and workers.  Since Sudhakar Shetty had joined the party from Congress recently these BJP supporters strongly criticized the party for showering favours on a person who had deflected to the BJP recently.

Even MLA Laxminarayana was taken aback by this development, which he claims happened without his knowledge. Addressing a press conference he expressed surprise and shock at not being considered for party nomination despite working hard for the development of the constituency.  Laxminarayana also lamented that the party did not show the minimum courtesy of consulting him before taking such a crucial decision.

Source close to Laxminarayana say that he (Laxminarayana) had to pay a heavy price for taking part in KJP meet held in Haveri in December 2012, which was in defiance of the party whip.  Giving ticket to Sudhakar Shetty is nothing but a deliberate attempt to marginalize Laxminaraya for his impudence to disobey the party whip and identify with KJP. /ENN
