‘Travelling in Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation(BMTC) Volvo bus is injurious to health,’ says commuters who have experienced pain caused by projected nuts fixed unscientifically to seats.

The BMTC has allowed advertisements in its buses to earn additional revenue. Ignoring the safety measures,  contractors fix  the advertisement materials behind the seats by using fasteners having bulged head by drilling the seat at four corners.

To accommodate more seats, already, the gap between seats are reduced and edges of projected head of fasteners fixed at the back side of each seat, touches knee of a person sitting at the row behind.

Fasteners which are not securely fixed may cause serious injury  with the extra projection piercing or scratching an unsuspecting commuter.

An incident of injury reported today and our team met G.N.Veere Gowda, General Manager(Traffic), BMTC in his office for his comments.

He was aware about the problem. He took out his mobile phone and called his staff to warn the company which has earned the contract to fix advertisements in volvo buses.

“We have instructed contractors to remove the advertisements immediately and re fix it after following proper procedure,” said Gowda.
