Enarada, Mysore, March 24, 2014

Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah today said BJP has been creating an artificial and false notion on the non-existing Modi wave in the state.

Participating in a ‘Meet the Press’ organized by Mysore District Journalists Association here, he said Congress gets 18 to 20 Lok Sabha seats out of 28 constituencies of the state.

“Modi is an RSS man and is entirely backed by the RSS. He will act according to RSS directions and implement its programmes.  It was the RSS that announced him as prime ministerial candidate, marginalizing BJP’s senior leaders L K Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Rajnath Singh” Siddaramaiah said.

Criticising the expenditure made by Narendra Modi for publicity during the past one year, he said that such a trend were unhealthy for democracy. Even today the Corporate Houses in the country has been funding for the Modi campaign, he alleged.

“The BJP keeps speaking about Modi and his Gujarat model. To me, Gujarat is not at all a model State.  If it is so, why is the literacy rate low in Gujarat?” Siddaraimah said.

Stating that the outcome of LS elections are not a referendum on his government and Congress party, Mr Siddaramaiah said he and his party will own the collective responsibility. “However, this issue will not arise at all since the Congress will do better  and win more number of seats,” he claimed.

He said there would be a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP in the state and it would be a surprise if the JD-S wins even one seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
