An artist from Kolkota is giving final touches to idols of Godess Durga in martha galli Hubli, today. The idols are prepared for the forthcoming Dussehra (Vijaya Dashami, Dasara, or Dashain) festival that celebrates the victory of good over evil.
The tenth day of the Navaratri festival (October 14) is known as Dussehra. It’s devoted to celebrating the defeat of the demon king Ravana by Lord Rama ( Dasha-hara, removal of ten-headed demon king Ravana).
The day also marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur.
