Three drug peddlers caught with ganja in Kasaragod

The coastal police, who have tightened their vigil on drug peddlers following the death of teenage college girl Sneha Upadhya last month in Mangalore, succeeded in seizing 54 kg of ganja in Kasargagod on March 12, 2013 and arrested three persons.  Those who are arrested are identified as Abdul Lathif of KK Pura, Kalandar Shafi of Uppala and Haris of Talangere.

The trio was caught when they failed to stop the Tata Sumo they were driving during a route checking of vehicles at Kandadka following which the police chased and waylaid their car at Soorlu and caught them.  On checking the police found 54 kg of ganja hidden inside the vehicle which they were transporting from Mangalore.

This haul of drugs comes close to the heels of seizure of 34 kg of ganja on March 11 near Udupi where three persons were caught while transporting ganja from Mysore to Udupi .
