Karnataka Government wants to revive the real glory of world famous Mysore Dasara. In the high level meeting held today in Vidhana Soudha, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that this year’s Dasara should be a memorable one with the active involvement of citizen.
“I want this year Dasara to be public Dasara and not officials Dasara” CM said. He added that works undertaken to beautify Mysore city for Mysore Dasara Celebrations should be executed with more dedication and with a vision of long term benefit for the residents of the city.
CM declared that Jnanapith awardee Dr. Chandrashekar Kambara will inaugurate this year’s Dasara on October 5 at Chamundeshwari Temple atop the Chamundi Hill.
Drop in Foreign visitors
Siddaramaiah expressed his displeasure for the steep decline in foreign tourists for the renowned Mysore Dasara Festival and asked the senior officers to make conducive arrangements for the foreign tourists to attend the Festival.
CM also asked the Chamarajanagara and Mandya District Administration to join hands with Mysore District Administration to make Dasara Celabrations highly successful.
CM released a Logo on the occasion.
Information Minister Santhosh Lad stressed for Online campaign to create awareness about the festival. “I think we have to give wide publicity about the Mysore Dasara Festival in both National and International levels in order to attract tourists. From the next year, we have to make preparations five to six months in advance” Santhosh lad said.
Mysore Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha sought Rs.10 Crores allocation for the Dasara Celebrations.
Mysore District In-charge Minister V. Sreenivasa Prasad, PWD Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Tourism Minister R.V. Deshpande, Information Minister Santosh Lad, Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, MLA M.K. Somashekar, MLCs C.H. Vijayashankar and Sandesh Nagaraj and officials of various departments were present at the meeting.
