Dasara might have ended but not the festivities as thousands thronged the famed Chamundi hills to witness the grandeur of Chamundeshwari Car festival on Sunday.
It was also debut festival for the Mysuru scion Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar who inaugurated the car festival along with his mother Pramoda Devi. Last year, the royal family had given it a miss following demise of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar.
The festivities began at 6.11 am with chief priest Shashishekar Dixit offering pooja to the deity. This was followed by launch of the car festival by Wadiyar family at 7.10 am. The Rath which carried Goddess Chamundeshwari Devi went around the Chamundi hills as thousands pulled the rope of the Rath amidst slogan shouting praising the Goddess.
