Kaup protests attack on youth, observes bandh

Various Hindu organizations called for a bandh in Kaup today, March 16, 2013,  in protest against the recent attack on three students who were  reportedly talking to a girl from a different community while travelling in a Manipal-Mangalore bus.

Kaup town observed complete bandh in the morning.  Most shops were completely closed and all vehicles including buses stopped plying, showing their solidarity for the bundh.  Various organizations came out in protest demanding immediate arrest of all those involved in the attack and sought strict action against  them so that such acts are not repeated.  A procession was also taken from Kaup town to Kaup Police station and the protestors submitted a memorandum to Kaup Dy SP Jayanth Shetty.  Police had made elaborate arrangements to ensure peace and no untoward incidents have been reported.

Vishwa Hindu Parishat district president Suprata Shetty, Geetanjali Suvarna, Arun Shetty Padur,  BJP leaders like Vijay Karkera, Naveen Shetty, Ravindra Shetty, Vilas Nayak, Prakash Shetty Padebettu among others participated in the protest.
