ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar, July 4, 2013:

The model of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), a free residential institute for tribal children and youths, should be replicated in other parts of the country, said Dr. M. Mangapati Pallam Raju, Hon’ble Union Minister of Human Resource Development during his visit to KIIT and KISS recently. This will help millions of children who are still devoid of education.

An institution like KISS, which is an effective model of educational empowerment, has been possible due to herculean effort by a single individual, he stated referring to the Founder of the institute, Dr. A. Samanta.

The Union Minister, who also visited KISS and addressed 20,000 tribal students of the institute, said the time has now come to empower our children for becoming responsible citizen of India. We have to provide them good quality education and need to have competent teachers for this, he stated. Government enacted Right to Education as a Fundamental Right three years ago and the positive impact of this move is now visible, he said. He commended Dr. A. Samanta, Founder of KIIT & KISS for his efforts to bring about empowerment through education.

Govt. is implementing mid-day meal scheme across the country as we want children, who are the future of our country, to get good nutrition, Dr. Raju added.

Later, inaugurating the Faculty Development Programme at KIIT University, the Union Minister said a young man can find job in any part of the globe with qualitative skill set. He emphasized curriculum development for this.
