John Vikram Martis (34) from Malpe  is among the three Indians who were killed on a Taliban suicide attack on North Atlantic Organization (NATO)  supply company’s compound in Kabul on Wednesday, July  3, 2013.

Martis who was working  for United Nations Organization  was deputed to Afghanistan to work as an accountant for  NATO forces working in Afghanistan for the last four years.

Martis lost his life in tragic circumstances in the sense that he was to leave the country for Dubai for employment on June 28th.  Unfortunately, he was forced to cancel his trip due to the bomb blast at the airport just a day before.   He was to fly to Dubai today, July 4, 2013 but lost his life a day before.

Though working in Afghanistan was quite risky, his family thought that since he was working inside the four walls of the office he was at minimum risk, unlike those who were working in the field.  But destiny willed otherwise and Martin who was injured in the bomb blast breathed his last.  Martin was unmarried and is survived by his aged parents, two brothers and a sister.

Martin’s brothers have left for Afghanistan to get his body and they are expected to return with the body within a few days.
