ENARADA, Hassan, February 11, 2014:
An elephant trampled Krishnegowda (45) to death at Bharatur in Alur taluk 30 kms from here today at about 1.30 p.m. He was working in his farm land when elephant attacked him.
As soon as the news spread, the village residents staged a protest.
A forest official Devaraj who visited the spot was attacked by the mob in the village. The protesters demanded a senior officials should visit the spot so that they can air their grievances with regard to problems of the elephant menace in malnad region.
Alur taluk and yesalur range in the Hassan district are troubled by the elephant attacks. As many as 13 people including Krishnegowda have been killed by elephant attack in the past decade.
