Earlier in a press meet on global issues on water and upcoming movie Paani, Sekhar kapur informed about the panic situation of water in India. With a great concept of scarcity of water in near future in India, he has made his film ‘Paani’. Giving the recent scenario about underground and other sources of water, he said only one part of the land area from which we are getting sweet water in different way. But it is going scarcity. City people consume water from rural source in different metro cities. When the water source in rural will become low, it will create a panic situation.

Giving importance on plantation, he said it is so necessary to create more and more plantations, as plantation can preserve the source of water. Pointing out the situation of Odisha, he said Odisha has the same situation, though it has a vast salt water resource.
