In order to curb the massive sand mafia the state government will implement the new sand policy soon, said DR H C Mahadevappa, PWD minister today.
Speaking to newsmen at dasegowdanakoppal in the district, he said a cabinet subcommittee would be formed to rectify the mistakes in the existing sand policy and implement to remove the deep rooted sand mafia besides introducing scientific method for sand mining in the state. The cabinet subcommittee will consider all aspects while preparing the report, he added,
He said that an autonomous institute would be formed to keep vigil on the standards of works on both state and national highways in the state. The state government has sought 700crores from the union government for this purpose, he added.
The vacant posts in the PWD will be filled up after preparing the list of merit, he said.
Earlier the minister laid the Foundation stone for Rs 7.16 crore turaganur canal works in t narasipura taluk in the district.
