University of Mysore to conduct K-SET in November

Mysore, May 27,2013:

The University of Mysore , a Nodal agency  of  the state government, to conduct Karnataka State Eligibility Test  for lectureship (K-SET),  in various universities , colleges and institutions of higher education will be held in November this year.

Speaking to journalists, University of Mysore vice chancellor and chairman of K-SET Prof K S Rangappa said that the University, accredited by the UGC to hold examinations in as many as 32 subjects compared the last year 26 subjects. As many as 70,000 candidates expected to take the examinations.

K-SET examinations for   lectureship /assistant professor ship will be conducted   based on the recommendation of the high level UGC expert committee which met here recently.

He said the UGC- (NET Bureau) has given re-accreditation to University of Mysore to conduct K-SET every year for a period of three years from 2013 and expected to be made permanent center  for the Karnataka state.

The examinations were conducted in 12 centers across the state during November this year; candidates who have secured at least 55 percent of aggregate marks in Master degree   and 50 percent for the SC/ST, physically handicapped category are eligible for the examinations

He also claimed that the percent of 4.49  of results last year was highest when compared to other centers in the country and   the average percent in these tests was 3.5 to 4 percent.

Stating that the university expected to receive state of the art status to the academic teaching center shortly since the UGC has selected one of the ten such institutions in the country to present their views recently, he added.

The university has plans to construct separate Value center building at the cost of Rs 15 crores and foundation stone would be laid by the governor shortly, he said.

He also announced that the University will sign an memorandum of understanding with the Thailand‘s Cholaon university on May 30 for a programme of students and teachers between two university.

Admitting that the standard of education in the university has declined and teachers evaluation  and assessments of each departments  would be  conducted very soon  in order to increase the quality , even the  guilty  teaching community  will be given warning and punishments as per the  university norms he added.

  1. Why scientific calculators are not allowed in NET/SET exam but in all other competitive exam scientific calculators are allowed
