ENARADA, Mysore, Aug 9,2013:

Members of the Mysore District Freedom Fighters’ association today observed the Quit India Movement anniversary at the Subbarayanakere Grounds which was the epicenter of the movement in Mysore in 1942, and saw large congregations and political rallies against the British rule.

They hoisted national flag on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, D.S. Jagadish, president, Mysore District Freedom Fighters’ Association,  said that the less said about the state of the country the better as none of the objectives espoused during the freedom struggle, has been achieved.

“Till a few years ago most of us would attend the anniversary function but in the present times only a handful of us can make it due to advancing age”, said Mr. Jagadish. “None of us meet regularly as physical infirmity has forced many of us to remain indoors. Our numbers are also diminishing with each passing year”, he lamented.
