Bangalore, February 21 (Karnataka Information) :The second round of Polio immunisation campaign in Karnataka will begin from February 24, according to M.Madanagopal, principal secretary to Health and Family Welfare Departrment, Government of Karnataka.
Department is fully prepared to administer two drops of polio vaccine to all 75 lakhs children under the age of five years against polio virus. It has stocked 95 lakh polio vaccines and set to open 31,000 polio booths all over the state including Bangalore International Airport , all important Bus stands and Railway Stations.
Apart from forming a team of 50,000 people , Government will use the services of staff of Health & family welfare department, Women & Child development department, Education Department, Women self-help groups and Asha volunteers totaling nearly 1 lakh people to eradicate polio.
Health and Family welfare department has made a special appeal to those living in high rise buildings and apartments to take their children to the nearest booth get vaccinated as it is difficult for the volunteers to reach them.
